It has already become a good tradition to hold a regional forum on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to draw the attention of authorities at various levels, colleagues, partners, journalists, media, and the public to issues of equality in access to various benefits and services.

This time, the 1st day of the Forum was held on December 3 in Sievierodonetsk, thus Luhansk region joined the All-Ukrainian flash mob “Weekend of Unlimited Opportunities 2018”.

On the first day, the Forum discussed Universal Design as a necessary component of our everyday life. In particular, they touched upon the need to popularize the approaches of “friendly community” and “inclusion” in democratic processes, education and medicine. They discussed and watched video reports from the LAOI experiment on the accessibility of popular social facilities (city executive committees, pharmacies, cultural centers, post offices, churches, and ASCs) in the centers of Rubizhne, Starobilsk, Kreminna, and Sievierodonetsk.

More than 60 participants attended the event, clearly understood the problems announced and will now go to Lysychansk on the second day of the Forum on December 4 to discuss in detail what can and should be done to reduce these problems.
