Sports prosthetics for veterans have become simpler and more accessible

Three individuals with prosthetic legs perform agility drills on an indoor turf field. They move through a flat agility ladder, dressed in athletic gear and focused on the exercise. In the background are a soccer goal and yellow cones, indicating a structured training setup. The scene highlights adaptive sports, physical resilience, and inclusive athletic training.

The state has simplified access to sports prosthetics for veterans. From now on, sports prosthetics can be obtained not only for participation in competitions, but also for training, an active lifestyle and personal rehabilitation — without unnecessary bureaucracy.

The main change is the abolition of formal requirements that have restricted access to this service for years. It is no longer necessary to confirm participation in sports competitions or collect additional certificates and approvals.

What this means in practice:

  • sports prostheses are available to all veterans who want to return to an active life;
  • the decision no longer depends on ‘athlete’ status;
  • the focus shifts from formalities to people's real needs.

Sports prostheses can be obtained for:

  • regular training;
  • sports activities;
  • physical activity and rehabilitation after injuries.

Applications can be submitted in several ways:

  • online via the Social Portal of the Ministry of Social Policy or the Electronic Office for Persons with Disabilities;
  • at the Administrative Services Centre;
  • at a social protection department;
  • at a regional office of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities.

This is an important step towards supporting veterans — when the state does not require them to prove their right to an active life, but creates the conditions to make it possible.

This is how a system that respects the dignity and experience of defenders should work.
